The enormity of HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries Band of Brothers was overshadowed in the weeks after September 11, 2001, when it completed its miniseries run. A little distance and a stunningly packaged five-DVD set help cast in new light this take on Stephen E. Ambrose's bestseller about Easy Company's incredible journey through World War II. The filmmaking is often visceral, yet the extended format allows the ensemble cast to grow, and the sacrifices of these heroic soldiers become palpable. The vivid drama doesn't let up in the extras here, as tales of struggle and redemption abound in "We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company" -- the best of the DVD's multiple documentaries. It's all heartrending stuff. Barnes & Noble

    Best War Movie Everby Anonymous

April 27, 2003: It's too bad that this was considered a TV drama. HBO can do what others networks can't, therefore it should be considered some sort of long movie epic of a sort. Regardless, this is the best war movie I've ever seen and I've seen them all. It's the most realistic military movie ever made and gives one an insight into what people who love our country do when we are threatened and the sacrifices they face. More intense and detailed than Saving Private Ryan. It brings one back to an era in our nation's history when dissenting voices in our country were not so disgraceful. It was a time when most American were on the same page and supporting their president and its soldiers.

    Exciting Nonstop Actionby Anonymous

April 12, 2003: The first and last chapters are mainly talk, but they are interesting. However everything in the middle is cool. There some talk but it is very interesting. The rest is nonstop action and what is has very GOOD graphics. The whole movie is mainly about the horrors of war but it is still cosidered a great action movie. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because it has that sad music at the beginning at every chapter.
