Editorial Reviews

Even a towering, bright-yellow bird can get lost. New to DVD, this reassuring entry in the Sesame Street Kids' Guide to Life series entertainingly calms fears and conveys what children should do if they are separated from an adult. Oscar winner Frances McDormand guest stars as a store employee who takes Big Bird under her wing when he wanders away from his friend Maria while shopping at the ABCD Mart. (It must be a massive and popular place, as Little Bo Beep pops up, too, in search of her lost sheep.) Original songs include the catchy "That's My Number," and the usual mix of live-action, animation, and Muppet whimsy (Elmo as a wayward fish is particularly amusing) help reinforce basic personal safety measures. Other entries in the Guide to Life series include Learning to Share with Katie Couric and Telling the Truth with Dennis Quaid. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble
