January 06, 2005: After playing acoustic guitar for decades, I wanted to learn electric. My teenage son and I have been working with the Keith Wyatt video for 3 months and have been amazed at the skills and abilities we have built. We have been able to start electric guitar lessons, not as beginners, but as real players according to our instructor. The process on the disk is comprehensive with increasing challenge in three styles:rock, blues, country. No fluff, no wierd accents, no mumbled burned out lingo. Just good teaching, articulated well. The disk has Keith instructing AND other helps like notation and tablature as well as the 'living fretboard' also covering the same material. This helps alot. I wish Keith Wyatt did a sequel to this... thanks

The electric guitar is still the backbone of rock & roll music, as well as an invaluable part of the fabric of blues and country music, and this home video is designed to put beginners on the first step toward becoming guitar heroes. Keith Wyatt, an author and guitarist who's played with roots rock firebrands the Blasters, demonstrates the basic building blocks of electric guitar playing, from tuning the instrument, rudimentary chords and scales, rhythm and solo guitar patterns, and practice exercises to techniques best suited to the electric instrument, such as vibrato, string bends, and the use of effects boxes and amplifiers. Fender Presents: Getting Started on Electric Guitar also features backing tracks which allows the new guitarist to play along with a band as their skills improve. Mark Deming
