December 12, 2000: This video starts off hopeful, promising a beginner's introduction to the basic methods of playing the violin. However, due to poor editing, the instruction fails to mention how to hold the bow, a comment by the narrator later reveals that the method was supposed to be shown, but apparently was edited-out for the actual tape. After a very brief segment on plucking the strings and bowing, the narrator concludes that the viewer really should seek a professional instructor. Is this not waht the vidoe was supposed to show? I recommend applying the money for the video to the actual lesson. It will go much further to your education.
