Editorial Reviews

An orphan who dreams of someday finding a family to call his own finds his fate taking an unexpected turn when a mysterious stranger named Wilbur Robinson transports him into the future. Based on the book A Day With Wilbur Robinson by William Joyce, Meet the Robinsons tells the story of a boy with a lifelong wish to belong, and shows what happens when he meets an incredible collection of characters who just might have the power to make his wildest fantasies come true. The film's all-star cast of vocal contributors -- including Angela Bassett, Kelly Ripa, Tom Selleck, Adam West, Steve Zahn, and Laurie Metcalf -- brings the world of the future to life as never before seen on the silver screen. November 15, 2009: I bought this for my four year old God Daughter. She loves it and watches it over and over.

Postive, Uplifiting, Nice Castby Anonymous

December 28, 2007: I was immediately impressed by the graphics, animation, and creative minds of the people who work behind computer screens and get little recognition. But I was so much more impressed by the postive messages of trust, friendship, family, adoption (Wilbur's mom probably 'wanted' him, but just couldn't 'keep' him), and hope. I was also touched by the reference to Walt Disney and the slogan 'Keep Moving Foward'. Overall, this movie had something that other, more 'mindless' movies can't convey. It had body to it, in a funny way. The redemption of 'Goob' and taking responsibility for one's actions (and knowing that your actions matter) were amazingly refreshing aspects. The cast was a great aspect. Both all-Star and a-little-new-to-me cast members made this an unforgettable masterpiece. Recommended for the whole family. A good launching pad for discussion with children.

What Parents Need to Know

About Meet the Robinsons

Parents need to know that even very young children will dig this Disney animated adventure. The story revolves around Lewis, a genius orphan who can't seem to get adopted and who desperately wants to meet his real mother. There's a sense that he and his friends at the orphanage feel rejected -- he counts 124 couples he's met who don't end up adopting him. The movie's villains are a robotic bowler hat and the mysterious mustachioed man who wears it. The Bowler Hat Guy suffers from severe jealousy and bitterness, which is why he wants to ruin Lewis' future. But the future, as it turns out, is bright for all, even Lewis' nemesis.
