Having hit several home runs in its opening year, this smartly written detective show maintains a similarly high batting average in the 1983-84 season, keeping the badinage peppy and contriving a plethora of unusual situations for its protagonists to contend with. Sleuths Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) and Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) are joined by Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond's Marie) -- as IRS fraud investigator Mildred Krebs -- in Season 2’s two-part opener, "Steele Away with Me." While sorting through irregularities found in the Steele agency's tax returns, Mildred gets drawn into the mystery of a dead man found in Laura's living room with a diamond-filled fish. Delta Burke guest-stars in the unusual "Altered Steele," in which an amnesiac hires Remington to find out which of his five wives is trying to kill him. Other first-rate episodes in this group find Laura and Remington working undercover in offbeat surroundings. In "Scene Steelers" they discover intrigue on the set of a TV commercial, while "Steele Threads" places them in the fashion industry, with Laura impersonating a model and Remington pretending to be a slimy wholesale buyer. "High Flying Steele" unfolds in a circus, with the detectives posing as trapeze artists. Brosnan's real-life wife at the time, Cassandra Harris, makes one of her periodic appearances as Felicia, a mystery woman from Remington's past, in "Woman of Steele," a particularly strong episode. The emphasis on novel settings, consistently clever scripting, and the addition of Roberts to the cast keeps Season 2 percolating nicely. Ed Hulse, Barnes & Noble

April 14, 2009: I've always been fan of Remington Steele, so I had high expectations when I purchased Season 2. The quality of the video is excellent! Just love that Mildred... Season 2 has some great physical acting it. The DVD extras a nice, too. I am completely satisfied with my purchase.
