Editorial Reviews

Culled from the National Geographic Society's archival footage, this captivating, award-winning series travels the world to encounter a menagerie of magnificent and curious creatures. Spin, the animated "globe on the go" (voiced by the late Dudley Moore), is your enthusiastic guide to a variety of habitats, both extreme and exotic, where viewers observe how the animals adapt and survive. This four-volume set includes the episodes Deep Sea Dive, Dinosaurs and Other Creature Features, Swinging Safari, and Totally Tropical Rainforest. Each fast-paced program features delightful scenes of baby animals and fascinating footage of age-appropriate animal behavior, with animations that bring the dinosaurs to life. Original songs help to enhance young viewers' appreciation of the animal kingdom and foster environmental awareness. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble

December 26, 2008: My younger daughter grew up on these, loved them and we bought all of them individually. It is terrific to be able to get so many in a set at a good price. I am sending this set to my older daughter, an environmental science teacher at an achievement academy in the Bronx. She has many students who are under grade level, so even though these films are aimed at 4th and 5th graders, they are still applicable in her classroom. There's a truly solid amount of educational content in these videos - they are not just "cute animal" films, though they can be enjoyed on that level by younger children. I recommend this set highly.

October 30, 2008: My bright kids grew up watching these on VHS over and over. I have lent these to many people and still like watching myself sometimes (also an animal lover). Some of the songs are really clever. We have sent them to school for some sections to be played for various study units.

I wish the set included Wonders Down Under (Australia) which I think it the best one of the series. Polar Prowl is also good and not included. :^(
