Editorial Reviews

Tony Bennett's dreamy rendition of "Hit the Road to Dreamland" sets the tone for this mini-"Fantasia" of exquisitely animated bedtime stories and songs, further enhanced by a distinguished roster of artists who evocatively contribute words and music. Susan Sarandon narrates Margaret Wise Brown's classic "Goodnight Moon," and Billy Crystal playfully voices Mercer Mayer's "There's a Nightmare in My Closet." Natalie Cole soars with her reading of Faith Ringold's "Tar Beach," about a young African-American girl's flights of fancy while sleeping on the roof of her high-rise. Lauryn Hill rhythmically rockabyes "Hush, Little Baby," while Aaron Neville and Patti LaBelle perform lilting renditions of, respectively, "Brahm's Lullaby" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Especially delightful are the interview segments with boys and girls, who share their food-for-thought reflections on dreams, nightmares, blankets, and lullabies. Sweet, but not syrupy, "Goodnight Moon" is a candidate for heavy bedtime viewing rotation. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble

September 22, 2007: My 2 year old son loves The Goodnight Moon book, and happened to see it previewed on HBO, which was a life savor because the book is quite short and was getting old. But this enjoyable movie has my child captured the entire time... Which is hard to do! Thank god for this because it is a very important part of our good-night routine and he knows when he watches this it's time for bed. Thank you! :"
