Denouement From the French "to untie." In the content of a film the point immediately following the climax when everything comes into place, or, as the series of events in a mystery comes to resolve. Denouement can also refer to the "undoing" or "end" of something in which case the connotation is not so seemingly positive as in the "denouement of a tradition or people."
