Editorial Reviews

Fitness instructor Peggy Cappy is your guide for this yoga workout for beginners, of which she says, "You don't need to be thin, young, and a contortionist to do this program." Yoga for the Rest of Us offers a three-part yoga-based exercise routine featuring stretches, standing poses, and Sun Salutations, all designed so that those who may not be as fit or as flexible as they wish can begin to enjoy the benefits of yoga. Cappy, host of her own yoga-instruction series on PBS, is accompanied by fellow demonstrators of various ages and ability levels who help show beginners that this program really can work for nearly anyone. August 24, 2007: I was extremely dissapointed in this Yoga video. I was looking for a video that gave a basic Yoga workout for beginners. Instead, I found a video which showed a lot of Peggy Cappy -- Peggy Cappy talking, talking, talking about Yoga in an aggravating, mind-numbing tone, and very little actual Yoga. The people in the video were not just beginners - they were fresh from the old folk's home. They actually seemed quite spry despite their ages, which makes me wonder why they would waste their golden years standing around listening to Peggy Cappy simper when they could be out playing shuffleboard with their senior citizen friends. When Peggy Cappy finally got to the actual Yoga portion of the video, she went quite quickly through the poses, which belied her premise that this Yoga video was for those inacapable of doing a traditional Yoga class. While "Yoga... rest of us" might be appropriate for the very elderly or handicapped, don't waste your money on it if you're just looking for a beginner's video.

April 19, 2007: I have never liked exercise, but I really enjoy doing the Yoga routines shown on this DVD. I have found that I notice the difference in how I feel when I skip a few days. Being out of shape and middle-aged, this is the perfect exercise for me! Peggy's easy instructions and soothing voice make it a very relaxing experience. I look forward to trying her other Yoga DVDs.
