Editorial Reviews

The fifth installment of the six part series from Yoga Journal is a unique workout that merges the cycles of the sun and earth with the body. Master yoga instructor Rodney Yee demonstrates five yoga routines -- awakening, centering, creativity, reflection, and surrender -- which reflect the placement of the sun and its effects on the body and soul. Awakening begins at sunrise with gentle stretches then moves into a series of standing poses. Early morning and centering is a sun salutation combined with standing poses. Creativity is a series of back and forward bends. Late afternoon and reflection is a soothing routine of forward bends and hip openers. The series concludes at sunset with surrender, a sequence of deep relaxation and breathing exercises to free the mind and spirit. With no verbal instruction or voice over -- just Yee's amazing form and yoga-conditioned body, the soothing music, and beautiful Maui locations -- this is a truly inspirational yoga workout. ~ Heather M. April 07, 2005: I'm just beginning to get into Yoga and have had several teachers and used several different tapes and I think his is by far the best. I like that fact that he just says the next position which lets you concentrate on the positions without alot of chatter. All the moves are ones that a beginner could do with some challenges. He does have suggestion at the end for alterative positions or aids to use.
