Editorial Reviews

Whitney Houston: The Greatest Hits offers a comprehensive and intimate look at a musical giant who has earned the label "superstar" with unique vocal talent and regal stage presence. The 22 music video hits compiled here show the magnitude and endurance of Whitney Houston's award-winning musical accomplishments. The timeworn radio staples including "You Give Good Love," "Greatest Love of All," "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and "I'm Your Baby Tonight," still charm, while newer hits, such as "It's Not Right, but It's Okay" and "I Learned from the Best," show that she still has the magic. The DVD soars with career highlights such as Houston's arena-rousing rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" from Super Bowl XXV, her 1985 TV debut on The Merv Griffin Show, and her 1989 Grammy Awards performance of "One Moment in Time." For some fans, the highlight of the DVD's special features will be the interviews with Houston and her mentor from Arista Records, Clive Davis. Others, though, will thrill to the making-of footage from her "My Love Is Your Love" album, featuring Wyclef, Missy Elliot, and Kelly Price, among others. There's also behind-the-scenes material from her cover-photo shoot for the record and classy graphics with Houston as your program guide. A most welcome DVD debut, Whitney Houston: The Greatest Hits is a worthy testament to one of purest and potent voices in music today. Sharon Steinbach, Barnes & Noble

February 17, 2002: In an age in which so many of us seek validation of ourselves from others, Whitney Houston doesn't need to do this. She validates herself and her greatness by singing to herself at times - not to the audience. One can see this in her singing ''Didn't We Almost Have It All''. If for no other reason to buy her DVD, buy it for this one song. You will see a woman reaching for and finding her musical greatness in this song without even knowing it. You will see her voice, gross and fine body movements, and her soul become one. My friends she was not singing to the audience in this song but to herself, and she didn't even know it. She gave the audience her best. Enjoy it!
