Though Jung-Min is merely a young girl, in the letters she portrays herself as a worldly teacher with the wisdom of a woman twice her age. As Jung-Min turns twenty, a man ten years her senior moves into her village. His heart heavy with sadness and sorrow, the grieving widower sends letters to his deceased wife on the wings of a carrier pigeon nightly, knowing well that he will never receive a reply. One day, much to the man's surprise, a reply does come.
