Editorial Reviews

Hearst College: jewel of the Pacific, and citadel of higher education set amid rolling lawns and swaying palms. But since Hearst is in Neptune, California -- and since Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) is among its incoming freshmen -- you know it's also a noir netherworld of lies, betrayal, secrets and (of course) murder. Veronica, Logan (Jason Dohring) and more of your VM favorites join cool new characters (like Chris Lowell as new love interest Stosh Piznarski) for a Season 3 of seething mystery and sardonic wit. College is indeed a learning experience as Veronica aces a crime class led by a hunky prof; solves the case of on-campus rapes that began in Season 2; and gives a grad seminar in sleuthing when two faculty members take sudden, eternal early retirements. Unfortunately for Veronica, freshman year is also her last, as VM didn't survive past the 2006-07 season on the CW. From the Studio

November 04, 2007: The first 2 seasons of this show were phenomenal and hearken to shows like Buffy and Angel as far as plotting and character developement. It became obvious in this season that the writers were already burned out. The Previous season long mystery arcs were replaced with several mediocre"and extremly predictable"couple episode story arcs. This may work well with people with short attention spans, but it changed the entire "Culture" of the show. The show continued to display at the beginning credits, a large ensemble cast, however most of these people were relegated to bit part actors and rarly saw airtime, so character developement for anyone besides Veronica and well anyone in the beginning credits was next to nil and replaced with an abundance of walk-ons that never really went anywhere. Finally while Seasons 1 and 2 were nice self contained mysteries that kept you guessing, but eventually tidied everything up by the end of the season, the third season kept starting new story and character threads that never had any closure or significance to the overall storyline. "Especially when you consider the pitch for Season 4 had what amounted to an entire new cast and a 're-imagined' Veronica Mars". While I hate to see this Series end, as it was my only respite to the deluge of unimaginitive reality programming, it is probably better that the series go out while it is still relatively enjoyable, rather than fizzle into mediocrity.

August 30, 2007: It's really ashame they cancelled it, because this show was just so fantastic. I have the first two seasons and this is the last one I need. I have to get it because I love it that much! I recommend it to everyone! It's got something for everyone, Mysterys, Romance, Comedy.
