Editorial Reviews

U2's eagerly awaited follow-up to the monumentally successful Best of 1980-1990 collection includes videos of the band's most recent chart-toppers, including "Beautiful Day," "Even Better than the Real Thing," "One," and "Mysterious Ways." The earlier collection is currently available only on VHS, and fans of Bono & Co. can rejoice in a release that finally takes full advantage of the DVD format. Directors such as Wim Wenders, Kevin Godley, and Anton Corbijn chime in on commentary tracks, and mini-documentaries detail the making of videos for "Electrical Storm," "A Story of One," and "Missing Sarajevo." U2: Best of 1990-2000 also features bonus tracks not featured on the companion album, including "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses," "The Ground Beneath Her Feet," and "Last Night on Earth." Although fans of Ireland's most popular export since Guinness may quarrel over which decade produced U2's finest music, there's no argument that this collection rocks, showing the band's evolving creatively even as they carry the mantle of rock legends.

June 14, 2003: There is no other band or group that offers the emotional effects like U2. They are on of the most determind bands of the century, and now with The Best Of U2, one is able to enjoy the sounds that caused U2 to get so much attention. Their style is unique, and the sounds of Bono's voice rises the spirits and turns the heart. U2 is the best of the best. A great band.

January 21, 2003: Sorry to say, but this DVD is not worth your hard-earned money if you have a discerning eye at all. Badly encoded. Quality is like internet streaming. I was very disappointed after Elevation, which is top notch. Further, the sound mix doesn't downmix well to two channels, if you don't have a surround system. The vocal tracks are lost and the background (usually echo) is in the forefront. Couldn't stand it. Avoid.
