    On the eve of presenting a pair of prized elephants to the King of Thailand, a young martial arts expert and his father are shocked to discover that the beloved creatures were stolen by an international mafia syndicate, and now the determined fighter must travel to Australia to get his animals back in this adventure from the team behind the international action hit Ong Bak. To Kham (Tony Jaa) and his father, the elephants that they were about to present to the King of Thailand were not simply pets, but members of the family as well. When Kham learns that the criminals who stole his elephants have taken them back to their home base in Australia, the fearsome fighter vows to brave the strange new land and bring his animals back safely no matter what the cost. Upon arriving in Australia, Kham enlists the aid of Thai Police Sergeant Mark (Petchthai Wongkamlao) and pretty slave Pla (Bongkuch Kongmaili) in taking on down notorious crime boss Madame Rose (Jing Xing) and locating the animals he loves before it's too late.     June 07, 2008: The protagonist is intense, focused--and naive/idealistic. Unlike the other reviewer, I thought that the plot was poignant, particularly relevant to today's world.

    December 17, 2006: Tony Jaa returns after his international hit "Ong Bak: The Warrior". The movie begins in Thailand where his elephant is stolen & taken to Australia. So, he goes to Australia to get his elephant back. I know, not a very realistic or good screenplay but it doesn't seem like the makers of the movie were that concerned with the story. Unlike "Ong Bak", they don't advertise that about not using any special effects. Although the story is not an exciting one, the movie provides many action sequences which will keep you entertained. Two main sequences stand (1)there is a 5-7 minutes of non-stop action in a mall & it is done in one-take, the camera follows Jaa's running back & forth punching & kicking the villains.It's a pretty amazing scene. Next is the final showdown where he fights abt 30 -40 villains & he keeps breaking their jaws, legs, backs, etc. Then, he fights these big Australian villains with elephant leg bones tied to his hand for hard hits. I only gave this movie 4 rating because the story is really cliche & cheap. If they could have come up with a better story, the movie would have done better business wise & also received better review. Jaa's acting has definitely improved as well but again, he is a action star & not a big deal. The movie is a must watch on DVD. I am looking forward to owning it.(In the US, it was released as "The Protector")
