Editorial Reviews

Inspired by the picturesque paintings of Thomas Kinkade, The Christmas Cottage tells the semi-autobiographical tale of how a young boy is propelled to launch a career as an artist after he learns that his mother is in danger of losing the family home. Michael Campus directs a film written by Ken LaZebnick and co-produced by painter Kinkade. Jared Padalecki has been cast in the lead, while Peter O'Toole plays his mentor Glen Wessler. February 13, 2009: As a collector and former employee of a TK Gallery, I so much appreciated seeing this movie, and the wonderful Actors in it. It was very well done, and true to Thomas Kinkades' life while an aspiring artist.

Peter O'Tool was, as always, magnificent & stellar with his performance as Thom's Mentor, Glen, and Marcia Gay Harden was phenomenal as Thom's Mother. I was very excited to see Jared Padalecki playing the part of Thomas Kinkade; he was superb!

A few of the scenes were a bit corny, like during the tree lighting ceremony, but it made for a very entertaining part of the whole story, as it is based on a true story regarding that year in Thom's life.

Unfortunately, it was only available on DVD, but I did have a special invitation and was privileged to see it on the big screen. I believe it would have done very well at the box office, as I know a lot of people are Thomas Kinkade fans. If not, they may have become one.

Thank You, Thomas Kinkake, and kudos to everyone involved with the making of "The Christmas Cottage" I will be anxiously awaiting the sequel, which hopefuly will continue on with his life story from that point.

As a whole, I thought the film was very well done, heart-felt and enjoyable. I loved it and highly recommend seeing it!

February 10, 2009: This movie was somewhat slow in parts. The scenery was quite pleasant to watch. How Thom made his mark in life and his beginning artistry was very interesting. While there were some parts that didn't move along, I think it was worth watching.
