Editorial Reviews

It seems like only yesterday that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were toddlers, cooing and crawling in Bob Saget's Full House. But these pre-teen media tycoons are finally full-blown teens -- and ready to hit the road in this G-rated cross-country romp. The Olsens star as type-A Taylor and more laid-back Kylie, who turn sweet 16 in style. Presented with a 1965 Mustang, the duo drives off, headed for the Olympics in Salt Lake City. Accompanied by two girlfriends and three doofus boys, they have one "disaster hamburger wrapped in a catastrophe bun" after another. That is, until they meet another girl, Charlie, who becomes their "guardian angel" (She's an incognito heiress). No longer girls, but not yet women, the Olsens have yet to go the Britney Spears route - something for which parents can give thanks. It's nice to see self-possessed kids who can still find innocent fun. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble

February 01, 2003: This movie is alloted one-half of a star because the ''filmakers'' got the cameras to turn on, and another half because they managed to actually capture images with them. The remaining star is awarded simply because what resulted is so horribly amusing. This ''film'' is so bad it's great. Awkward moments, and unsure direction give the viewer tons to laugh at. Is it a teen-romance/roadtrip adventure, a post-preteen roadtrip/romantic comedy, or an unintentional tragicomedy in terms of poor film making? Buy it, if only to make the rest of your movie collection shine in comparison.
