Editorial Reviews

Australian-born Whale Rider sensation and Oscar nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes stars opposite Oscar Isaac in Lords of Dogtown director Catherine Hardwicke's dramatic account of the Annunciation, and the arduous journey of Mary and Joseph to give birth to baby Jesus. House of Sand and Fog's Shohreh Aghdashloo co-stars in a film with a screenplay by The Rookie and Finding Forrester scribe Mike Rich. Filmed in the village of Matera, Italy (a locale that has remained virtually untouched by modern progress and also served as the backdrop for Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ), and Quarzazate, Morocco, former production designer Hardwicke's film strives for authenticity in telling the Bible's most treasured tale. November 24, 2008: This very inspiring movie finally gives a nice backround story to the life that Mary and Joseph had before the birth of Jesus. Through hardtimes and struggles to the journey to Bethlehem where Jesus will be born, bonds will be made and danger will be under foot. A movie for all to see and be inspired by. A much needed backround story is also giving to the Wise Men as well as the mother and father of John the Baptist. The music soars with love and inspiration. Don't miss out on this breathtaking cinematic wonder.

December 26, 2007: TIME IS SUSPENDED --you meld into the screen- You are there. Mary portrayed as human NOT holier than thou--scenes where she must endure criticism from Joseph and parents because she is pregnant are worth seeing it-and the birth scene is believable-heart pounding. 3 wise men are dignified, human with a very LIGHT touch of humor. the whole movie brings believability -no longer JUST a LEGEND. You will say "yes" to the story you always wanted to be true, gives STAMP of truth. Personally I respect GOD, not religion. If you are searching for TRUTH this is a GREAT place to start.
