A lonely stretch of highway leads to a date with terror in this thriller. Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton) and Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush) are a young couple in the midst of a long-distance road trip when, during a rainstorm, they take pity on a hitchhiker, John Ryder) (Sean Bean), and give him a lift. Jim and Grace soon come to regret their benevolence when Ryder reveals himself as a violent madman determined to see them dead. Luck is with Jim and Grace, and they're able to throw off Ryder and get back on the road, but as it happens their troubles are just beginning. Ryder has already killed a handful of people and is planting evidence that suggests Jim and Grace are the murderers; now the couple is on the run from the law as they search for Ryder in a bid to clears their names. The Hitcher is a remake of the 1986 cult horror classic of the same name; the new version was produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller, who previously produced remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror. August 18, 2009: "I want you to say 4 little words...I want to die." Probably this movie's single defining, classic line. This was a pretty good, suspenseful movie, and a bit shocking in a couple of parts.. It was interesting to see the hitcher/killer toy with the teenagers throughout the movie, and to be honest...there were some parts in it that I didn't see coming. Sean Bean did a great job as the hitcher/killer...a great role for him. He is another actor that I really like. Sophia Bush and Zachary Kingston did great as the teenagers as well, and Neal McDonough was great as the police detective in it. He is a great actor as well. But yeah, if you're up for a suspensful cat & mouse slasher on wheels, and enjoy a couple of twists & turns, this is a good one to watch. Not a bad remake.

February 05, 2009: Some say it sucks and I'll admit I like the original better because it has one of my favorite actors C. Thomas Howell whom I Love!! :) The new guy is not a very good comparison and should not have been called Jim Halsey because the story was different (o well he dies (: )!!! But Sophia Bush is excellent and the fact that the girl kills the bad guy in this one is way way cool!!! I think she is great in this movie and Sean Bean plays a reely creepy bad guy!! I own it and if you like horror you should too!
