Go and Broken Hearts Club producer Mickey Liddell makes his feature directorial debut with this suspense thriller about a high-school student who arrives in a new town only to find that her frightful past won't be forgotten so easily. Molly Hartley (Haley Bennett) was all ready for a fresh start in life, and kindly classmate Joseph (Chace Crawford) was more than willing to help out by showing her the ropes around school. But Molly Hartley is a girl with a sinister secret. Only when she discovers the truth about who she really is will she finally understand what she might one day become. August 06, 2009: I had originally looked at the cover and read the summary and thought that it sounded really really good! I was all excited to finally watch it. Boy, was I disappointed. I liked the whole thing where it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the movie, but only because there were times that I would jump because someone just happened to pop out of nowhere. But the end was pretty predictable. I spent practically the whole movie confused....and even after it was over I was majorly confused and I have no idea what was really supposed to be the problem. I am so glad that I had not bought this movie and had just rented it from the library, otherwise I would have been very disappointed. I recommend that you don't watch this movie, it's an hour and a half I kind of wish I could take back.

This is supposed to be a haunting? Cheap scares don't cut it.by Chancie

March 31, 2009: I had originally wanted to see this in theaters, hoping it was would be worthwhile. I'm sure glad I never made it.

The movie opens with a young girl and her boyfriend, but when daddy dearest follows them, he drags his daughter away. On the ride home, the topic of her 18th birthday comes up (which will be next week, mind you) and the father becomes a bit crazy, wrecking the car and then attempting to kill her. Well...you soon realize she survived and her and her boyfriend got married and all that. Enter Molly Hartley.

She's moved to a new school and lives only with her father, since her mother is locked up in a loony bin. Plagued by strange headaches, voices, and just overall unusual things, Molly begins to fear that she too is crazy.

I'll stop there on the plot.

Overall? I found this movie laughable. The acting is mediocre at best. There are parts where I actually found myself chuckling, simply because they were acting stupid when they were trying to be serious. The script doesn't seem to flow very well and some parts feel a bit awkward. The characters are mostly just annoying. I didn't feel bad or connected with any of them. At some point, you just might want to see all of them die...they just don't work. The story itself has more plot holes than swiss cheese...or Zack Fair for that matter (FFVII reference). Don't get me started on the ending. I won't spoil it for you...but it was clear they tried to make it a totally shocking ending but it blew up in the process. It makes no sense and leaves you staring at the screen with a "huh?" expression. At least, it did for me.

If this is supposed to be a horror movie, it fails at it. It relies on the cheap scares along, such as a dog suddenly jumping up and barking or a hand grabbing someone with the sharp music in the background. No lingering fear. If it was supposed to be suspenseful, it fails at that too. I was never on the edge of my seat or eager to see what was going to happen next. It was all just "meh."

I suppose this movie is good for a rental and a one viewing only...but that's the extent. I don't suggest buying it to see it the first time. Rent and if you like it (for some unknown reason), perhaps then you outta buy it.
