    Editorial Reviews

This low-budget horror film about teenagers trapped in a carnival funhouse with a freakish monster is pretty standard stuff. Director Tobe Hooper manages a few shocks and includes some typically peculiar supporting characters, but this film is less entertaining than either of his previous excursions into such territory. Not as scary as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) nor as bizarre as Eaten Alive (1976), The Funhouse may as well have been directed by an anonymous hack as one of the foremost names in the genre. The movie tie-in novel, penned by "Dean R. Koontz" under the pseudonym "Owen West," is actually far more frightening than the film on which it was based. Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

August 04, 2007: The Funhouse is one of Tobe Hooper's greatest films ever, no questions asked! The Funhouse is about four teens: Amy(Elizabeth Berridge), Buzz(Cooper Huckabee), Liz(Largo Woodruff), and Richie(Miles Chapin), who go on a double date to the fair. While they're there, they ride rides, smoke pot, and eat lots of food. Then when they decide to leave, Richie suggests they spend the night in the funhouse, cause he's always wanted to, and it would be fun. So they get on the ride, and get off inside, hoping to have some fun. But instead, they are stalked through the tunnels and pop ups, by a monstrous fiend, hoping to find and kill them.....

May 01, 2005: This is one of my favorite horror movies. From the director of TCM, how can you go wrong?? YOu cant, so buy this movie. I also want to check the book out. I'm a sucker for carnival horror.
