The Four Seasons follows the trials and tribulations of a group of middle-aged friends during a 12-month period. Alan Alda (who also directed) and Carol Burnett play a married couple who consider themselves paragons of sensitivity and sensibility. Alda and Burnett are the instigators of a series of vacations (from New England to the Virgin Islands), which they take in the company of two other couples: Jack Weston and Rita Moreno, and Len Cariou and Sandy Dennis. Everyone's interrelationships are put to the test when Cariou and Dennis divorce, and Cariou subsequently marries the much-younger Bess Armstrong. Not too surprisingly, the comings and goings of The Four Seasons are underscored by the music of Antonio Vivaldi. Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

August 21, 2005: The depth of long lasting friendship is magnificently portrayed by the cast. The colors of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter are so richly filmed you can almost smell the October leaves of New England, the ocean spray of the Caribbean, and new fallen snow in December as these couples take their seasonal vacations together and then, as they grow older, experience transition in their relationships! Sooner or later, we all experience friendships that can withstand the test of time and its neverending seasons, and in the process fill our hearts to their brims. This is a wonderful film. Don't miss it!

August 05, 2005: This rates as one of my favorite films of all time. Alan Alda and Carol Burnett shine in this piece that takes a look at the different reactions of the onset of midlife. The cinematography and musical score makes the film a feast for the eyes and ears.
