    Editorial Reviews

The Jacket director John Maybury adapts playwright Sharman MacDonald's account of the true-life relationships shared between Welsh poet Dylan Thomas; his wife, Caitlin; his lifelong friend Vera Phillips; and her husband, William Killick, in this biographical drama centering on the curious incident in which Thomas found his home turned into a war zone when Phillips and Killick attacked the abode with a machine gun and a grenade. Sienna Miller assumes the role of Dylan's wife, Caitlin, and Keira Knightley joins the cast as the trigger-happy Phillips in a film that not only reunites Knightley with Jacket director Maybury, but takes its cue from the play penned the Pirates of the Caribbean star's mother as well. Lindsay Lohan was originally tapped to play Caitlin, but dropped out due to contractual disagreements. The film also stars Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) as Thomas and Cillian Murphy as Killick. September 12, 2009: This film is beautifully written and acted. It is dark and edgy, but hopeful at the end. Keira Knightley just gets better and better.

THE EDGE OF LOVE- An Underrated Drama that easily succeeds 'Atonement'by Anonymous

April 26, 2009: *REVIEW*The films' beautiful look (and Knightley's singing) pull you in instantly, into an old-fashioned, nostalgic drama. The story is straight forward, without flashbacks or cliche poetic license. It's accuracy may begin to bore, but the stellar performances and iconic shots will captivate you. With both dramas 'Atonement' and 'The Edge of Love' you'll find great cinematography and the picturesque Keira Knightley. But only in 'The Edge of Love' will you feel the story realistic, and not blatantly based off a popular novel. In both dramas you're able to sympathize with the deep characters, but only in 'The Edge of Love' you'll be given a choice. This isn't the greatest romance of all time, but it's certainly better than 'Atonement' in many ways.*RATING*Possibly rated R when released in the US, for one love scene (showing Knightly from the side), language, one disturbing war image, some violence, one conversation in the sheets(covered nudity)A woman in labor, and and a man shooting inside a home w/children.(no deaths)

I Also Recommend: Moulin Rouge, Australia, Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Becoming Jane.
