    Editorial Reviews

Only Kelly Reno and Teri Garr from the cast of the original Black Stallion make appearances in The Black Stallion Returns. In the first film, young Reno rescued his beloved stallion from its cruel Arab owner. This time around, the stallion is abducted by Moroccan henchmen and bundled back to Africa. This paves the way for a repeat of all the salient action from the first Black Stallion. Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

April 28, 2004: This movie was excellent! It is a great movie to watch with your family. At the very end my heart broke and I almost cried but still it was very heartwarming and it was excellent.

February 13, 2002: The Black Stallion Returns features 3 excellent elements: Excellent score by George Delarue. Beautiful themes illustrate this surreal experience of a boy's accidental voyage to North African Moracco. Incredible images of Moracco. It should be a liesurely film to watch, like a moving painting. Deserts are dazzling on film. ? representation of North African people and culture, possibly more than in any otherwise conventional film. It is well worth watching at any age. Bon Voyage!

    What Parents Need to Know

    About TheBlack Stallion Returns

Parents need to know that a few exciting scenes and eye-catching location photography keep this sequel afloat, but it's nothing compared to the original. Those who haven't seen the original shouldn't risk this one, as it's involved plot may not hold their interest. A barn fire and Alec's struggle to survive when he and his friend are lost in the desert are mildly frightening, but shouldn't bother most children. Children under 8 will have problems sitting still through the involved plot. Some grade-school children may be disappointed that the black stallion is absent from much of the film. This is mainly for fans of the original.

    Families Can Talk About

Families can talk about sequels. Are they ever as good as the original movies? If they're often worse, why do they get made -- and why do we see them?
