Editorial Reviews

This documentary of the metal band's history covers its blues origins in England through frontman Ozzy Osbourne quitting to begin his solo career. Group members Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi provide commentary throughout the piece, which contains clips from a variety performances -- including footage of the group when they were known as Earth and playing electric blues. The band that proved to sprout the heavy metal movement, Black Sabbath's effects on music are documented in this film, showing how their influences manifested their unique and groundbreaking sound through years of collaboration. August 24, 2006: I loved the California Jam (Children of the Grave) because it was amazing how good they are in concert. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and the bands first manager Jim Simpson give a lot of info about Black Sabbath and it's history. N.I.B and War Pigs are 2 AMAZING tracks so I'm glad they preformed them live... I still don't get why they don't show Geezer's bass solo in the beginning that's the only flaw in this great DVD.

February 08, 2003: What Black Sabbath did with their first lp literally shook my foundation. The integrity of that first lp was there again in the pit of my gut when I watched this video. How exciting to catch a music vibe twice in a lifetime! (I have both the Warner Bros. lp and the Vertigo lp.) Watching the years unfold within minutes on this video brought back a lot of emotional ups & downs. I was a total sell out for Sabbath and watching drugs, ego's, lack of creativity, and fighting amongst the ''Unholy Four'', left my feelings hurt to an extent. Seeing Terry & Frank talk about the times made it a little more acceptable. And much more forgivable from my perspective! Thanks guys!
