Johnny Cash not only had inestimable talent as a musical artist, he also possessed rare degrees of integrity and taste. As host of his own musical television program, Cash made it a point to highlight only the best when it came to his specially picked guests. This long-awaited two-disc set features some of the most memorable appearances from the cream of the Cash show's 1970s run. The guest list is simply staggering. From the world of country we have (among others) Bill Monroe, George Jones, Merle Travis, Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette, Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, and Loretta Lynn; from jazz and R&B, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles; from rock, pop, and folk, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, the Everly Brothers, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as the only televised appearance of Derek and the Dominos with Eric Clapton. And, of course, there are plenty of gripping performances from the Man in Black himself, both in featured songs and in duets with his sterling friends. In short, a treasure trove of timeless music.
