Comic legend John Cleese hosts this documentary that offers a look at the history of football, the world's most popular sport. In addition to a number of the greatest highlights in the game's annals, the fimmakers include interviews with some of the greatest players, as well as celebrities who are avid fans of the game. One section of the film also analyzes how soccer has permeated the popular culture in various ways. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide All Movie Guide

February 10, 2009: It's very entertaining and funny. If you're a soccer (football) fan, then you'll love it. I think anyone that watches it will BECOME a soccer fan. It talks a lot about the beauty and creativity of soccer and there's tons of funny stuff, both said and shown. It might also be titled, "The ABC's of Soccer" since he literally goes through the entire alphabet - one by one.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are interviews and clips from a lot of non-English speaking stars (Kaka, Luigi Calina sp?, Thiery Henry etc) and while they are speaking - and you're reading the subtitles - they're also showing some great soccer moves. It's a lot to take in at once. But on the other hand, I wouldn't want them to dub over with a translator and I guess it keeps things moving by talking/reading/watching all at once. Gives me a good reason to watch it again soon. OK, why not? I'm changing the rating to 5 stars!

We had a soccer friend over for dinner and watched it together afterwards. Made for a fun, entertaining evening. Loved it.
