Ichabod and Mr. Toad is a two-part Walt Disney cartoon feature based on a pair of well known stories. The first half of the film is an adaptation of Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, all about gawky 17th century schoolteacher Ichabod Crane and his love for the beautiful Katrina. The girl's vengeful ex-beau Brom Bones decides to scare Ichabod out of Sleepy Hollow by filling the impressionable teacher's brain with stories about the ghostly Headless Horseman--who of course makes an appearance that very night! The second half of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is based on the "Toad of Toad Hall" stories from Kenneth Grahame's The Wind and the Willows. The aristocratic but childish Mr. Toad loves motorcars, but his affection leads him to a jail term when he is accused of stealing an automobile. It's up to Toad's faithful friends to break Toad out of jail and expose the real crooks. One of Disney's better "omnibus" cartoon features, Ichabod and Mr. Toad is enhanced by the narrative skills of Bing Crosby in the Ichabod segment and Basil Rathbone in the Mr. Toad sequence. April 03, 2004: 'Tradition!' -Tevye 'Fiddler on the Roof' Out of all the Disney timeless classics like Snow White, Cinderella, and Fantasia, nothing to me has ever been more better than The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Walt Disney's 11th Animated Masterpeice. The first segment tells about Mr. Toad form The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahme. When Mr. Toad is accused of stealing a motorcar, it's up to him and his friends to set the truth straight ending this segment in a climactic way. Then, we go to the story of Ichabod Crane from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. This segment is darker and funnier. The story starts when bookish Ichabod Crane tries to win the heart of Katrina Van Tassel, the richest prize in the county. But when the smoldering rivalry between Ichabod and Brom Bones grows, he is introduced to the tale of the Headless Horseman leading up to a thrilling chase and a heart-thumping climax! This DVD is perfect for kids who love these stories and perfect for Halloween as well. Trust me, this is a film you will be disappointed not to own in your DVD collection.

Absolutely Wonderful-One Of Disney's Bestby Anonymous

September 03, 2003: ''The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow'' is my all-time favorite story, and this is by far the best film version of Washington Irving's classic tale out there. It has wonderful animation, Bing Crosby's story-telling and singing are fantastic, and it is also very much true to the original story. Also, Mr. Toad is funny in his adventure, Basil Rathbone's narration is great as well, but the real gem of this film is the ''Ichabod'' tale. A real treat for anyone's Halloween party, too! Great film for kids, adults, and anyone who simply loves Disney!
