Editorial Reviews

Inspired by the true story of the United States Marine who volunteered to escort the remains of a nineteen year old soldier who was killed in Iraq to his small hometown in remote Wyoming, Taking Chance stars Kevin Bacon in the feature directorial debut of Oscar-nominated producer Ross Katz. Lance Corporal Chance Phelps (USMC) was just nineteen years old when he was killed during active duty. Now, as Lance Corporal Phelps is prepared for his final journey back home, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Strobl (USMC) (Bacon) makes it his personal mission to ensure that his fallen brother is laid to rest with the proper respect. As the journey begins, Lieutenant Colonel Strobl gains a greater appreciation of the sacrifices made in war than ever before. Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

November 11, 2009: Taking Chance is an awesome movie! Very interesting and touching. Even if your not in the Marine Corps. it is for any American to view. Kevin Bacon did an outstanding job and showed his true colors as an actor. He portrayed himself well as a Marine Officer. Even my husband, who served five years in the Marines, said this was one of the best military movies he has seen in a while. Don't miss out on this great movie. You won't be diappointed.

November 04, 2009: As a former active duty Navy vet & ILANG vet, this film brought me to tears. Chance and his fellow Marines exemplify the true qualities of all vets: honor, duty, respect, and valor. I recommend this film to all Americans, regardless of politics or personal beliefs about the wars we are currently waging overseas. This film is about the humanity of the fallen.....may they rest in peace as we all bask in the light of freedom that they have provided for us.
