Editorial Reviews

The Stargate saga continues as an elite military unit races back to Earth following the mysterious disappearance of two key team members, only to find themselves in an alternate reality where the Stargate has never been invented. Somewhere in deep space, the SG-1 team is in serious trouble. Two team members have vanished without a trace, and now the SG-1 unit's only hope for survival is to get back to Earth as quickly as possible. Upon touching down the team is relieved to be home, but deeply disturbed to learn that the reality they just returned to isn't the same one they departed from. In this reality, the Stargate has never been discovered and neither the government nor the military has never even heard of the SG-1 unit. But who altered the Earth's timeline, and why? Upon discovering that a malevolent alien known as Ba'al has been meddling with the planet's timeline in an attempt to conquer Earth, the team must race against time to defeat the most powerful adversary that they have ever faced. Another fantastic plot for Stargateby PipRo

February 09, 2009: I adored Continuum. After watching all of SG1, finishing of Atlantis, then making my way into the SG1 movies, I was so happy to have my favourite team to enjoy again. All of the reviews I read seemed to focus completely on the apparent sound issue, which I did not notice at all. I watched on my laptop and heard everything perfectly. I felt like the balance in mixing was done well, and that there were no issues whatsoever. But I digress. On with the review!

I feel like this is one of the best plots that they have writen. The subject of time travel is so easy to either over-simplify or completely confuse the watchers with, that it can be difficult to haev a good plot. However, this was neither difficult to follow, nor super lame kindergarten grade time travel. They did a good job aknowledging things like a paradox, etc, so it wasn't like they tried to make time travel sound like something perfect.

The writing: supurb. I don't think Daniel Shanks has ever had funnier lines. Stupendous job on his part. Richard Dean Anderson also has some fun in this one, and we get to see everyone's favourite Goa'uld to hate, Apofus(sp?), one last time. There are also some interesting new roles as well. We get to see Vala's time spent when she was occupied by Katesh, which is very interesting, and a fun way to look at Claudia Black's acting range.

And, of course, it is SG1. Anyone who watched and loved the show, with all it's quirks and humors, will very much love this film. It's a great hats off to the acst and crew, and one to be enjoyed by any fan of Stargate.

I Also Recommend: Stargate - The Ark of Truth.

Sound problem fix?!by Anonymous

August 06, 2008: The volume level difference between music/action and voice is similar to that experienced with The Lord of The Rings, by myself. The solution that worked for me was to go into my tv's setup and turn on volume level limiting. This came close to eliminating the problem. If you use a big $ sound system, then you have other problems to deal with.
