June 14, 2005: After reading all the Sharpe books, I decided that it was time to check out the movies, and this past winter, bought the series on DVD. Wow! - well, okay, you'll have to overlook the skimping on production values. Concentrate instead on story, and Sean Bean's bloody-minded, brilliant turn as Richard Sharpe, and John Tam's singing, and Daragh O'Malley who was obviously born to play Harper, and - I could go on in this vein for some time, but it would probably be simpler if you just buy the videos and watch them. You won't regret it.

February 03, 2004: The movies are great and follows the books as well as an 100 minute television movie can. I wish the budget had been a little larger to bring the larger presence of the French and British armies to the screen. Very good movies, I own them all.
