Editorial Reviews

Here's a noteworthy event: Sesame Street marks its 35th anniversary with this all-star musical celebration of the "rich cornucopia of music" that gives the Street its beat. This mega-mix includes jumping songs, rapping songs, animal songs, counting songs, alphabet songs, and even cookie songs. Still, the program asks: Wouldn't it be better if there were one song that the whole world could sing together? The task of finding an answer to this question falls upon the furry back of Super Grover, who embarks on a musical mission. It's all an excuse to replay some of Sesame Street's most memorable musical moments, including an all-star "Sing," featuring the Dixie Chicks, Nathan Lane, Ben Stiller, Gloria Estefan, R.E.M., and Conan O'Brien, among others. Patti LaBelle belts out a "Gospel Alphabet," and Leontyne Price offers an "Operatic Lullaby." Meanwhile, Big Bird's got a song stuck in his head, but he can't figure out "What's the Name of That Song?," which is, of course, the name of that song, and it's one of Sesame Street's most irresistible. As for the ultimate answer at the end of Super Grover’s quest? It turns out to be no: In music, as in life, diversity makes things more interesting. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble

June 01, 2009: This got so much play by my first son that we had to buy a second DVD to replace the worn original. Now both my sons, and I, love to watch this together to dance and sing along. The story and all the songs are great fun and this is always something that my one and a half year old and three and a half year old can agree on.

Total entertainment for my 11 month old for HOURS!by Anonymous

January 15, 2009: My little girl got this DVD for Christman this year from her Auntie. I have been going on to the Sesame Street website to watch small little scenes that you have to keep clicking on to play. Kind of annoying but it has entertained my 11 month old for hours. It is the only way she sits down and is completely quiet. Her aunt gave her this DVD and I wasn't sure if she would sit still and watch it. It is better than what I found on the actual website. I just plug it in and she watches it over and over again. The songs and celebrities are awesome and I find myself singing and humming the same tunes in the shower. I have been looking for more of these DVD's that have all singing and celebrity apprearances. I would buy ever single one if they had a complete colection of them. My daughter stands up and dances and tries to sing even though no one can understand her yet and it is just clean and wonderful entertainment that I don't mind watching either. This is the best Sesame DVD I have bought so far and I have about 10 of them. Buy this one you will not regret it.
