Editorial Reviews

The Secret Life of the American Teenager follows six friends as they learn to define themselves while navigating the perilous waters of contemporary adolescence. Everyone at Grant High School has something to hide, like Amy Juergens (Shailene Woodley). Viewed as a "good girl" and a band geek, Amy is pregnant and does not know how to break the news to her parents (Molly Ringwald and Mark Derwin). Cheerleader Grace Bowman (Megan Park) struggles to keep her vow of chastity under the close watch of her parents (John Schneider and Josie Bissett); Ricky Underwood (Daren Kagasoff) hides his skeletons in the closet; and even Amy's parents conceal the truth behind their shaky marriage. There is always more than meets the eye in this poignant portrait of modern day life in high school. The 11 episodes of 2008's Season 1 aired on the cable network ABC Family. From the Studio
