    Editorial Reviews

Scooby and the Mystery, Inc. gang venture into the Australian Outback to attend a music festival for unsigned bands at Vampire Rock. Naturally, the crew finds themselves in front-row seats for a batty mystery involving missing musicians and a mythical aboriginal vampire, Yowie Yahoo. Despite some contemporary trappings (the heavy metal backdrop, self-referential humor, a bikini-clad Daphne), this produced-for-video feature sticks close to the classic Scooby-Doo formula; Velma's still the brain, while Scooby and Shaggy (voiced by Casey Kasem) scarf snacks, panic, and run in place (cue the bongos). "Those meddling kids" remain true to form by unmasking the "monsters" as costumed fakes (a creative step back from recent Scooby movies in which the monsters were real). Faithful Scooby-Doo fans will no doubt gladly sink their teeth into this video equivalent of comfort food. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble
