    Jigsaw, the diabolical criminal who captured the imagination of horror fans in the 2004 hit Saw, returns in this equally bloody sequel. Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) is a police detective who, after discovering the aftermath of a particularly gruesome murder, is convinced that Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) is up to his ugly tricks again. Matthews's hunch turns out to be correct, but the master criminal proves to be disconcertingly easy to capture. As it happens, Jigsaw is eager to be put behind bars in order to throw the authorities off his trail as he once again punishes people who in his eyes have transgressed the boundaries of acceptable moral behavior. But instead of trapping two people in a filthy dungeon where they must engage in a terrible contest in order to win their freedom, eight people have been locked away by Jigsaw, and they must torture their bodies and minds to achieve the terrible justice Jigsaw seeks.     November 10, 2007: "Saw" was one of those brilliant masterpieces that didn't need a sequel "like "A Nightmare on Elm Street"", but that doesn't mean that this movie isn't worth watching. "Saw II" features a very complex perdicament for the eight protagonist while concurrently providing backstory for Jigsaw straight from the man himself, and both plot devices, while genius, could have used some work. The characters locked in the sarin-filled house, for one, needed some fleshing out, and less time should have been spent on Jigsaw's borderline-emo prattling and more on the traps. Which leads me to my positive points: the traps of this movie were all chillingly cunning. From the complex opening one "ouch!" to the simple "nothing really beats fear of fire or needles", the few minutes of horror scattered throughout are top-rate. The acting was better than that of its predecessor, and the twist ending comes very close to rivalling "Saw"'s. One other complaint was that the structure was too complicated, with characters falling victim other characters' traps. A little simplicity would have helped, just have everybody die in their own traps and call it a movie. "Saw II" is still a good follow-up, though, and I recommend watching it, even if you agree that the original would be better as a stand-alone.

    November 27, 2006: The first one duh the best, didn't like this one much it had its moments. I kinda already knew what was going to happen with one of the characters but hey you weren't sure at the same time. It continues from where the first left off and once again pits more unsuspecting people that are link together and yet must play a "game."
