In this live rendering of her hit album La Luna, soprano powerhouse Sarah Brightman once again delivers an entrancing vocal performance that embraces -- and somehow unifies -- remarkably disparate material. On the heels of her previous video smash, One Night in Eden, the angelic chanteuse eschews the show tunes and instead shines her crystal pipes on pop material that ranges from the ethereal ("Scarborough Fair") to the idiosyncratic ("A Whiter Shade of Pale"). As expected, Brightman also graces numerous classical numbers with slinky arias by Rachmaninov and Beethoven. Brightman seems to relish making odd choices, and she doesn't disappoint here, thanks to movie maverick Ennio Morricone's "La Califfa" and the trip-hop beats of "This Love." While the programmed rhythms on some songs may seem quirky, her adventurousness is bound to win her new fans and deserves to score points with her faithful legions, too.
