After introducing how Santa and Mrs. Claus came to the North Pole and began their work delivering toys at Christmas time, this routine children's film segues into a story about an evil corporate magnate (John Lithgow). One of Santa's elves (Dudley Moore) goes to work for the nasty tycoon and invents a wild array of far-out toys. Then there is a little boy who does not believe in Santa Claus and a girl who finds out about the toymaker's plans to defraud his company. Santa's reindeer are a little under the weather, not to mention Santa himself. This labyrinth of subplots quickly draws attention away from the story, wherever it is. November 21, 2006: I took my 3 daughters to see this movie when it first released in 1985. It was such a heart warming Christmas story to see. My daughters are now grown up but I would like for my 3 grandsons to be able to experience it for themselves. I was having a really difficult time locating a store who carried it in stock. I could order it online but didn't want to take a chance on it not getting here in time for the Christmas season. Barnes & Noble came through for me. Thanks Barnes & Noble and your employees were so helpful and kind, I truly feel they went out of their way to help this grandma. God Bless you all.

October 03, 2003: I love this movie so much. I used look forward to it coming on cable every year until now because I bought the DVD. There is just something charming about this movie. I actually just bought a DVD Player and this is the second movie I've purchased, I just had to have it and it is not even Christmas yet!
