Editorial Reviews

Ellen Burstyn and Alan Alda star as a highly devoted adulterous couple in this winning adaptation of the Broadway hit. As witty as it is wise, Same Time, Next Year remains among of the most memorable comedy-dramas of the 1970s. Barnes & Noble

September 20, 2007: I saw this movie over 20 years ago and it is still my favorite. Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn play Georsge and Doris so well that every time I see them in a different role I still think of them as George and Doris. I can't imagine that there could be anyone who would not enjoy and feel touched by this movie. I have seen it about 20 times (about once a year since I first watched it) and I always enjoy it like I did the first time.

November 20, 2006: As a theater lover, I frequently read plays that our small troupe could possible perform. Reading the play this movie is based on, I openly laughed and cried. The movie is great version of that play. I actually played George on stage and had no trouble crying for my lost son. The play was a bit racy for my small town, but they quickly saw the play for it is, a romance. The movie did a great job bringing that out, and shame on you if the "affair" got in the way of such a great story.
