Clark Johnson's big-screen adaptation of the 1970s television series S.W.A.T. stars Colin Farrell as Jim Street, a young special weapons and tactics team member who, in the film's opening sequence, is demoted after his hothead partner Jeremy Renner shoots a hostage while trying to kill her captor. In need of good press, the higher-ups call in SWAT expert Hondo Harrelson (Samuel L. Jackson) to put together an elite team that can bring some luster back to the badge. He chooses Street, veteran T.J. (Josh Charles), and tough single mother Chris Sanchez (Michelle Rodriguez). The new team survives a series of tests before hitting the streets. Their first big assignment involves transporting an international criminal (Olivier Martinez) to federal authorities. August 05, 2008: This is to comment on both the movie and the prior reviews. As far as this movie goes, &quot I&quot liked it, and I'm not all that easy to please. Samuel L. Jackson is, of course, a great actor. Colin Farrell is gaining strength as an actor. The others in the cast are not famous, but they all do good jobs, in my opinion. An action packed movie, which is what Hollywood was going for. It seems to me that a few of the reviewers were turned off by anti-Polish remarks in the movie, which they called anti-White and anti-racial (although they are, technically, anti-ethnic). Gee, I didn't even notice those, must be because I'm so used to stuff like that, all that kind of Hollywood stuff that is anti-woman and anti-feminist (i.e sexist). Seems those reviewers are Polish guys so they get offended with a few Polish remarks, but we women are so used to anti-women stuff done by Hollywood and commercial advertisers so we don't notice that stuff because it's everywhere. We don't call an entire movie crap or worthless due to it, but a few anti-ethnic remarks and these guys call an entire movie worthless. If we women did that, sheesh, every movie, liquor advertisement, book, etc. would be worthless! So don't misjudge this action movie just because of some bad jokes. We women have been ignoring that kind of stuff for our entire lives. You either ignore it or you end up boycotting everything.

April 19, 2006: I sat watching this awful movie thinking it was a very average Hollywood action film, until it got to the part with the anti-Polish remarks. The tacky writers and producers, the director (and the anything-for-money actors mouthing the scripted words) should be ashamed of themselves but of course they are not - so long as the dollars keep rolling in. Poles and Polish Americans should not be subjected to racist abuse and insults.
