    The last film to be co-directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker, Ruthless People stars Bette Midler (capitalizing on her comeback performance in Down and Out in Beverly Hills) as Barbara, a spoiled rich woman who is kidnapped by the kindly Ken and Sandy Kessler (Judge Reinhold and Helen Slater). Barbara's forceful husband Sam (Danny DeVito) has ripped off the Kesslers and they decide to hold Barbara for ransom. Sam, who hates his wife, refuses to pay. Eventually Barbara befriends the Kesslers and together they figure out how to exact revenge upon the obnoxious Sam.     July 27, 2009: The chemistry between Danny Devito & Bette Midler was GREAT!!!! This is one of my all-time favorites. I love the ending. You laugh from beginning to the end.

    March 09, 2009: Danny DeVito and Bette Midler are excellent in comedy that gets you laughing from the very start. Lots of laughs throughout. Ms. Midler proves she can ACT, her performance is most entertaining. She is not only an accomplished vocalist, she is a very funny actress too.

    Judge Rheinhold plays a good straight man. This was in the beginning of his career and probably gave way to his part in Beverly Hills Cop.
