    April 15, 2008: Most bands are either good in the studio or live. Rush is the rare exception that is great in both areas. I also saw the show in tampa and loved it. One of the things I enjoy about seeing them live is that I know I will always hear songs I never heard before. They find a good mix on the set list. I have never found another band to match them live.

    December 19, 2005: Rush seems to have pulled a switch from their last live effort: Rush In Rio featured a killer set list, however the sound was mufffled, even spawning web sites devoted to fixing it. This time around, Rush does not disappoint in this department. However, the set list is a real yawner. I saw the concert live in Tampa in July of 2004 and felt the same way. We start with a "medley" featuring a snipet of one song from each of their 6 albums (Hey guys, how's about dropping some of the tired has-beens like Mystic Rhythms, Animate, Subdivisions, Dreamline, Force Ten and Resist and playing the entire song instead of a medley??) before settling down to some of their standard fare. Highlights include a great version of "Red Barchetta", "Between The Wheels" (off their little appreciated Grace Under Pressure album) and four covers off their 2004 Feedback album (I found their take on The Who's "The Seeker" to be the best of the lot). Now, don't get me wrong, Rush is the best live band out there (in my opinion), I am just disappointed in their choice of lame songs (They end with "Limelight"? Yuck!). Last quibble- The drum solo, "Der Trommler", is weaker than the solo in Rush In Rio as is the German audience (hard to beat those Brazilians, they really know how to sway to the beat). The end of Disc 1 brings another medley to the forefront- 2112/Xanadu/Working Man and the sound is incredible (the visual of Alex working the double guitar to Xanadu is a treat). The interviews in Disc 2 are interesting, if not repetative. Lastly, in "The Anthem Vault", we're treated to a treasure trove of classic performances including including "Circumstances" and "A Farewell To Kings". There are 2 easter eggs hidden in DVD 2- Great fun finding them. I can't wait to see these guys next time around. Nowhere will you find a group which creates such an awesome sound. The sound and incredible musicianship alone make this a must have for any Rush fan. Now, if they can only work on that darned set list...
