April 25, 2006: Loving the original Riverdance video, and having seen Riverdance twice in London and once in in Dublin), I was irritated and upset to see the dance sequences in Riverdance: Live From New York City edited so that the viewer cannot enjoy the choreography. Most shots last one or two seconds. We get one quick cut after another: a brief long shot of the dancers entering the stage, a short medium shot, followed by rapidly changing close-ups of moving feet, smiling faces, side views, another two-second long shot of the dancers, and so forth. Fred Astaire was never like this. Put the DVD in the player, forget about trying to watch the dancing, and enjoy the mood pieces, the music, and the singing.

December 03, 2005: The Riverdance is a musical masterpiece. The dancers, singers, and orchestra were extremely good. I respect the sheer amount of work it had to have taken to get all 30 people of the Riverdance troupe perfectly synchronized in the movement of their legs while dancing. Truly a must-see-live event!
