Editorial Reviews

Based on the Leon Uris bestseller and broadcast in two parts on ABC in 1974, QB VII is a courtroom drama of the highest order. The tale itself is a fictionalized version of the real-life lawsuit filed against Uris by Dr. Wladislaw Dehring over a one-line reference in Uris's novel Exodus that cited Dehring as a war criminal. The provocative production follows knighted physician Adam Kelno (Anthony Hopkins), who is accused of having been a Nazi war doctor by an American author (Ben Gazzara), 20 years after the war has ended. His reputation at stake, Kelno sues the novelist for defamation, and the court proceedings take place in Queen's Bench Room 7 (QB VII). A symphony of fine turns by British acting giants -- including an Emmy-winning supporting performance by Juliet Mills -- the miniseries includes especially memorable turns by John Gielgud and Anthony Quayle as the opposing barristers. Also making notable appearances are Leslie Caron, Lee Remick, and Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In regular Judy Carne. Chas Turner, Barnes & Noble
