A caped figure rides through the village stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. "Robin Hood," a young villager whispers. Close: It's Gwyn, Robin Hood's impetuous and headstrong daughter, a veritable she-wolf of Sherwood. Gwyn (Keira Knightley), who has her mother's looks and her absentee father's swashbuckling prowess, wants more out of life than "plucking chickens and mending socks." Defying Dad, she pulls a Yentl, cutting her hair to pass as a boy and setting out to assist Hood père in rescuing Prince Philip from the scheming Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham (Malcolm McDowall). When Robin is captured and thrown into the Tower of London, Gwyn rallies his Merry Men to rescue him. This made-for-TV adventure is entertaining and family-friendly: There are a handful of deaths by arrows, and the evil Prince's rack is deployed, off-screen. Spirited and fast moving, it gives kids not quite ready for Buffy a female action hero to cheer for. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble
