Editorial Reviews

When NBC canceled the series The Pretender after its Season 4 cliffhanger finale in May 2000, fans across the Internet banded together to petition the network and cable outlets to pick up the series again. Cable's TNT responded, broadcasting reruns and even commissioning an all-new Pretender TV movie, The Pretender: 2001, which aired January 22, 2001. Reuniting the original cast -- Michael T. Weiss (Jarod), Andrea Parker (Miss Parker), Patrick Bauchau (Sydney), and Jon Gries (Broots) -- the movie picks up where Season 4 left off. Jarod, posing as an FBI agent, tracks down a killer who turns out to be another Pretender. A second TNT-produced telefilm, The Pretender: Island of the Haunted, premiered December 10, 2001. This time, Jarod and Miss Parker find themselves trapped on an island together, leading to interesting revelations about their shared pasts. Unfortunately for fans, the second film didn't perform well for TNT, leading to the end of the Pretender franchise. Christina Urban, Barnes & Noble

November 05, 2008: The movie is very interesting and it answers many questions from the series. However, it raises more and more porwefull questions than ever. We need to know the continuation of the series. Will Jarod ever find his mother? Why is he so important to the Centre? What those weird scrolls are all about? The plot of the story it was interesting and Michael T Weiss is a great actor. However, the end of the movie let us without knowing what we really watched. It was the beggining of a new season? The beggining of a new movie? The fans need answers. I hope the writters can answer these questions soon.
