Editorial Reviews

Every pig has his day, and, finally, after toiling for nearly four decades in Winnie-the-Pooh's and Tigger's shadows, Piglet gets top billing. Little Piglet (voiced, as ever, by John Fiedler) feels left out of the enchanted Hundred Acre Wood gang's big plans to harvest honey. When Piglet goes missing during a storm, they use Piglet's "book of memories" to try and locate their precious friend. Along the way, they fondly recall stories -- meeting Kanga and Roo, an expedition to the North Pole, building a house for Eeyore -- that illustrate Piglet's steadfast friendship and selfless behavior. Adding to this film's considerable charms are songs by honey-voiced Carly Simon, including "Sing Ho for the Life of the Bear" and "The More It Snows," with lyrics adapted from A. A. Milne's stories, and the catchy "With a Few Good Friends." Well received in theaters, Piglet's movie will be even bigger on home video with preschool Pooh lovers. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble
