    Editorial Reviews

In this off-beat actioner, a former officer in the Green Beret comes back to his old stomping grounds in Miami and, seeing that his high school is overrun by a vicious drug lord, decides to take some of the school's toughest students and turn them into crime-fighting units by teaching them the venerable Brazilian martial art, capoeira. March 19, 2006: It has tons of morales. The biggest part I relate to is one person can make a big difference. It basically has struggle, tribulations, that high school teen deal with every day. I think this movie should be shown in High school.

April 21, 2005: The capoeira shown in this movie consists mainly of the flashy supercool moves that are part of the advanced repetoire. I know, everyone wants to think that you can do in in three short classes (not). As a budding capoeirista (capoeira player) I can thank this movie way back when to have lit a spark deep enough to have burned into my adulthood. I have a group now that I play capoeira with (its considered a game til its time to fight) and I am happily learning it all... And don't forget breakdancing owes itself to the capoeiristas who came to New York in the seventies and founded capoeira here in the US... Good storyline for an off-blockbuster movie. hard to get, but worth it. Decent storyline, classic underdog bringing down the bad guy story. Good moves, cinematography is decent. Lots of stereotypes and over-the-top typecasting. Typical kickbutt action flick with a heart of gold.
