Based on the anime series of the same name, this 90 minute movie retells the show's Alabaster Arc storyline. The menacing criminal syndicate known as the Baroque Works, led by Crocodile, have engineered a civil war on the island of Alabaster. Monkey D. Luffy, Princess Vivi, and the Straw Hat Pirates are headed for the island to try and stop the conflict, but can they stand up to the Baroque Works, let alone prevent a full-scale war? December 29, 2007: Though I obviously haven't bought this movie yet since it hasn't come out in America. I have watched the subtitled version online. I love One Piece more then any other anime, but this movie is not very good unless you really loved the Alabasta arc. This 'movie' is a rehashing of all the alabasta episodes into one movie with better graphics. I'd like to say that it's a good substitute for any of you who haven't watched One Piece, but it's not. Unless you know what's happening, hte missing plotpoints in this movie would leave a newcomer confused. As for the already dedicated fans of the series...it leaves out or otherwise changes small but important parts of the story to fit everything in. Nothing is as dramatic and Sanji's fight against Mr. 2 is rather unspectacular, as is Zoro and MR. 1's fight (though it had great graphics). All in all, I would buy it if your a One Piece fan just to have the collection, assuming this movie is going to be dubbed. It would be nice to see the movie in english. But if your a newcomer to One Piece. I'd leave this one alone unless you want to be confused. (Unless you're thinking of buying those god-awful 4kids dubs, in which case, buy this instead)
