Editorial Reviews

When an elderly lesbian couple refuses to sell their home to a powerful developer their house is covered in homophobic vandalism, but is this apparent hate crime motivated by genuine distain for gay culture or simple corporate greed? All the homeowners in the neighborhood have agreed to sell except for a committed lesbian couple with no interest in money nor intentions of moving. A local investigator suspects that the attack is simply a way of convincing the couple to bend to big business, and as he delves further into the case he comes to terms with his feelings for an old boyfriend. Inspired by the strength of the lesbian couple he is working for, the investigator finally learns how to love again. Chad Allen, Margot Kidder, and Gabrielle Rose star. April 16, 2009: As someone who loves a good mystery (be it a book or movie), I was intrigued to watch all of the four Donald Strachey mysteries. On the Other Hand, Death (which is a great book mystery in itself) from the first scene becomes an intriguing mystery for Donald to solve and keeps the viewer watching until the last minute. Donald's relationship with Tim is a fine love story that some think does not occur in gay relationships. They have their ups and downs but you can see the love flow between them. The movie perfectly casts Chad Allen as Donald Strahcy (the truth seeking, do not like being lied to detective) and Sebastian Spence as Tim Callahan (his life partner, love of his life and truth seeker). The character of Kenny Kwan (played by Nelson Wang) adds the perfect humor to this griddy mystery. Here is to a great mystery and perfectly cast Chad Allen and Sebastian Spence.
